Report: Foxconn looking to buy Nissan

Having been struggling to stay afloat, Nissan is now in talks with Honda about a potential merger. Wall Street Journal adds that it has a serious rival there – Foxconn, which is also interested.

The Taiwan-based electronics corporation is mostly known for manufacturing the Apple iPhone hardware, but it dabbles in many projects from many industries, automotive included. By acquiring Nissan, Foxconn may secure important resources in automobile engineering and production.

Then again, one cannot rule out that the company has been interested in Honda all along, and is using Nissan’s current situation to secure an advantage in the talks. We should see how the situation develops in the coming weeks.
