Ram CEO bashes Stellantis ex-leader for stripping Ram 1500 of iconic V8
Tim Kuniskis, who returned to his steering wheel at Ram following the resignation of Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, said he was displeased at the parent company’s “anti-American” decision to axe the Hemi V8.
He added that he’d like to bring the eight-cylinder engine back into the Ram 1500 truck lineup, but warned us not to be overly optimistic about it. Even if the automaker manages to make the old engine compliant with the modern emission standards, it won’t happen until several years later.
In the meantime, the company will have to continue selling the pickups with the new Hurricane TT six-pot under the hood to recoup the development costs. Only then may the V8 return, and it’s a big “may” at this point.
