Ram 1500 TRX takes on a Ford F-150 in a not-so-fair drag race

The mighty Ram 1500 TRX firmly holds leadership on the performance pickup truck market, but a sufficiently modded Ford F-150 does not come far behind. Or does it?

A recent video provides a comparison between a stock Ram truck and a Roush-tuned F-150. The two do a standing start and a running start. The Ford enjoys a boost to its 5.0-liter V8, which is supercharged to 659 PS (650 hp / 485 kW) and 827 Nm (610 lb-ft) of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission drives the wheels.

The Ram 1500 TRX is factory stock, but has more thrust straight from the assembly line: 712 PS (702 hp / 524 kW) and 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque driving both axles through an 8-speed A/T.

In each race, the Ram pulls off an easy start and only continues to increase the gap afterwards. Having said that, we have a few concerns with the fairness of the race. First, the F-150 tested is an old-generation example, and Roush offers quite a bit more power in the new generation. Second, other tuners have shown that the F-150 has no issue outpacing the TRX with enough tuning applied. So, in the end, it is up to you to decide which one suits you best.
