Video: Will a VW Golf R hold its own against the best-in-class Porsche, BMW and Audi?

Welcome to the ultimate showdown of German performance cars! In the hottest video from CarWOW, a Volkswagen Golf R goes up against some of its most formidable upmarket rivals.

Powering the hot hatchback is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 318 PS (314 hp / 234 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is obtainable with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and needs 4.7 seconds to launch the Golf to 97 km/h (60 mph).

Standing next to it are the new AMG A45, which makes use of the world’s most powerful inline-four engines on the market, an Audi RS3 with a five-pot turbo and Quattro AWD, a BMW M2, and a Porsche Cayman GTS.
