U.S. ca manufacturer Rivian has released a video showing its R1T pickup truck braving rocky and muddy types of terrain. The video demonstrates the impressive off-road capabilities of the vehicle quite well, actually.
The Rivian R1T has 36 centimeters (14 inches) of ground clearance and can cross water obstacles up to a meter (3.3 ft.) high. Powering the massive vehicle are four electric motors jointly rated at over 760 hp (567 kW) and 1,120 Nm (826 lbft) of torque. Despite its all-terrain genes, the car sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in three seconds flat. Depending on which version you pick, its driving range varies between 400 and 640 kilometers (250 – 400 miles).
The bottom part of the Rivian R1T sports extensive carbon fiber and Kevlar padding meant to protect the traction battery. Interestingly, the car has 350 liters of additional trunk space squeezed between the cabin and the truck bed and accessible from both. It can haul up to 800 kilograms (1,765 lb.) of cargo in the truck bed, or tow a trailer attachment that weighs up to 3.5 metric tons (7,700 lb.).
