Oldsmobile Cutlass gets carbon body parts and 1,000 HP

Here comes another bonkers build by the team of Hoonigan Daily Transmission. The guys have rolled out a completely redone Oldsmobile Cutlass, a sedan/saloon with a retro vibe that General Motors used to produce a couple decades ago.

The car shed much of its weight due to new carbon fiber parts, such as the fenders, the hood and the trunk. The same luxury material finds its way inside the car as well (see the dashboard).

The vintage car ditches its unfashionable old wheels for a set of Weld Racing ones with deep rims. It also makes use of high-performance Brembo brake calipers and ceramic discs and rides much lower than stock.

It is still under the hood that the most interesting part of the entire project lies. The engine gets swapped out for a humongous 7.0-liter LSx V8 unit from Texas Speed Performance, assisted by a F1X Procharger. The mill delivers up to 1,000 horsepower (745 kilowatts) at the crank.

Wrapping up the list of upgrades are a Chevrolet Trailblazer SS differential, a performance exhaust system, and an automatic transmission ripped out of a limited-edition Hurst Olds Cutlass.

How do you like this old guy?
