M8 Comp vs. M5 CS vs. M5 Comp: Check out a three-way Competition among BMWs

With crossover SUVs and even pickups outselling sedans now, many manufacturers consider dropping them from lineups for good. Not BMW: the automaker insists on building powerful and luxurious vehicles like the M5 and M8, which often share the internals but behave differently on the road. The latest Carwow video explores these differences.

The drag race is held between a BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe, an M5 Competition and an M5 CS. All three rely on the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 for propulsion, but the M5 and M8 Competition both extract 634 PS (625 hp / 466 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque out of it. The M5 CS pulls slightly ahead with 643 PS (635 hp / 473 kW) and the same torque.

All three have four driven wheels and an eight-speed automatic transmission to drive them through, but the ensuing race is anything if close. Be sure to watch it and learn where the differences really lie.
