Volkswagen ID. Buzz LWB bows in Europe

Volkswagen has unveiled the long-anticipated stretched version of its ID. Buzz electric van, which it called one of the most spacious vehicles in its market segment.

The long-wheelbase MPV has 3,239 mm (126.5 in) of wheelbase – 250 mm, or 10 inches, longer than standard – and is 4,962 mm (193.8 in) long nose-to-tail. It looks virtually identical to the standard version, just longer and with an illuminated VW badge at the front.

Changes are more apparent in the cabin, where the extra space enables a third seat row to be added. Customers can choose from 5, 6 or 7 seats. With the seats fully folded down, the trunk space maxes out at 2,469 liters, or 87.2 cubic feet. With five seats raised, there is still 1,340 liters (47.3 cubic feet) of space.

In terms of features, the ID. Buzz LWB boasts an improved infotainment system with a 12.9-inch display, a heads-up display, a 5.3-inch digital dash, a multi-function steering wheel and ambient lighting in its most basic trim level.

The driving range remains to be disclosed, but we do know that there are two battery sizes to choose between – 77 and 85 kilowatt-hours. The powertrain makes 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque.

The shipments will not begin until 2024.
