Honda and Sony reveal their EV roadmap

Sony Honda Mobility, a joint venture between the tech giant and the carmaker from Japan, plans to introduce the world to three electric vehicles over the next four years. According to Motor1, there will be a mid-size sedan, a crossover and an affordable compact car.

The sedan is named ‘Afeela’ and is scheduled to reach the showrooms in 2025. The CUV is slated to follow it in 2027, while the third and last car on the roadmap is planned for 2028 or later. All three will be based on a shared unibody architecture.
Rumor has it SHM plans to build a factory in Ohio, USA. Honda and LG are running a traction battery production there, so it should come in handy from the logistics standpoint.

The latest version of the Afeela saloon debuted at this year’s CES show in Las Vegas (see video). It was 4,915 mm (16 ft.) long and utilized two e-motors rated at 496 PS (489 hp / 365 kW) together. The battery was said to store 91 kWh of power. Sony also pointed out a high-end driver assist suite composed of 45 sensors and cameras.
