KG Mobility to launch a new coupe-SUV

KG Mobility, formerly known as SsangYong, has posted a humorous video dedicated to the performance of the South Korean national football team. The 50-second-long vid features multiple production cars and a mystery SUV that the company hadn’t showed before. Everything suggests that it’s an upcoming coupe-like version of the KG Mobility Torres.

The vehicle is known under the internal designation “J120”, whereas the Torres was known as the model J100. Its front body half looks very similar, if not identical, to that of the Torres. The rear end is different with larger, sportier c-pillars and new taillights. The windows are blacked out all around, suggesting that work on the interior is still in progress. At the same time, the exterior looks production-ready.

It looks like the J120 may go into production based on the same platform as the Torres and the same powertrains, including the all-electric one that KG Mobility introduced last spring. When it may debut is still unknown, but we expect it to happen at the auto show set to take place in Busan, South Korea in June.
