Ford confirms that the Mustang will not lose the V8 anytime soon

The Ford Mustang is the only car in its market segment to still rock a traditional rumbling V8 engine. The company has now announced that it intends to keep it this way.

According to Ford representatives, having a large engine translates into solid sales numbers. The official sales data in the USA indicate that more than half of Mustang buyers (specifically, 52%) go for the V8.

As surprising as it may sound to some of us, the same is apparently true for Europe, where the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 version of the Mustang keeps selling better and better despite the strict emission standards.

As for how the company may keep the muscle car viable in the long term, Ford openly admits it will have to “monetize the customer interest” towards the Mustang as much as it can.
