Experimental Nio ET7 covers 1,000 km on a charge

A Nio ET7 sedan modded with a particularly large 150-kWh battery pack was able to cover a record distance on a charge in China.

The company conducted three tests on normal roads running through the country. The car traveled 1,046 km (650 miles) from Shanghai to Xiamen before it ran out of power. It also concluded the journey from Beijing to Hefei, which was 1,062 km (660 miles) long, and did best on its trip from Kunming to Zhanjiang, covering 1,070 km (665 miles). The average speed was pretty solid at 83.7 km/h (52 mph), with occasional accelerations up to 118 km/h (73.3 mph). The third and final route took the driver 12.8 hours to complete.

The ET7 that participated in the test had a semi-solid battery pack installed. It weighed only 20 kilos (44 pounds) more than the standard 100-kWh pack usually found in Nio cars.
