Hyundai to use robots in car production

The South Korean manufacturer will be joining the company of BMW and Mercedes-Benz as the next adopter of android technology in vehicle production.

The company acquired Boston Dynamics a few years ago and now plans to use the latest generation of its Atlas robot model. Unlike the previous generation – which officially retired a few days ago – the new one relies on an all-electric movement system instead of hydraulics. This allows the humanoid robots to weigh less, be stronger, move faster and perform more complex motions in more directions at once.

It remains to be seen just how exactly Hyundai will end up using these robots in car production; the company hasn’t specified it yet.
