VW sketches up a new SUV for China

A new Volkswagen concept car will hit the spotlight at the Auto China show opening for the visitors on Thursday, April 25. It still has no name and looks unlike any other VW car on the market.

Based on the sketches and darkened teasers, it’s a crossover SUV with a smooth body, prominent fender flares and a low-slung, sloping roof culminating in a rather modestly sized spoiler. The front air intake has a partition dividing it in to, and there is what looks like an elaborate faux grille at the front end. The latter make us suspect that the car is all-electric, but the company has yet to confirm it.

A while ago, Volkswagen talked about wanting to release a whole range of new cars for the Chinese domestic market. The concept seen here will serve as a preview of the company’s new design philosophy in China, which acknowledges that we live in “the era of intelligent web-based technologies”.
