GAC previews a trio of concepts

Chinese automobile manufacturer GAC Group has come to the Milan Design Week with its iconic Aion Hyper SSR sports car and three concepts embodying the company’s vision of the various urban mobility vehicles.

The lineup is called Car Culture 3.0. It comprises a passenger car known as the City Pod, its sported-up counterpart named City Run and a delivery microvan, City Box. The designers behind the project point out that all three share the same architecture and are extremely practical while packing a lot of unique features sure to come in handy for the city dwellers.

For example, the City Box features a quick-release battery pack mounted outside the car in the back. It also has a perforated partition between the driver’s seat and the cargo area that you can use as a rack for mounting clothes hangers and other items. The floor is scuppted and can seat two passengers with luggage while eliminating any need for dedicated seats.

The City Run is a futuristic sports car that requires you to lift its transparent top part to get in – no doors provided.

All three EVs drive their rear wheels with the help of a motor and ECU mounted at the rear axle in a single box. This powertrain box is removable, meaning it can be taken off and easily repaired or upgraded.

GAC says nothing as to whether any of these concepts may ever make it into production.
