New Porsche Panamera beats Nürburgring record

Porsche has revealed that a new, still unannounced Panamera version managed to lap up the North Loop in 7 minutes 24.17 seconds.

Driven by the company’s go-to test pilot, Lars Kern, it was formally recognized as the fastest ICE/hybrid luxury vehicle on the 20,8-kilometer track. All we know about this new Panamera to date is that it packs a hybrid system based on a V8 engine.

The car that hit the track was a pre-production example, but it had only minimal deviations from stock. Porsche mentions new bucket seats, an added roll cage, and a set of purpose-designed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires installed in sizes 275/35 ZR 21 at the front and 325/30 ZR 21 at the back.

In addition to the above, the car wore the company’s Carbon Aerokit to improve downforce at the front and took advantage of the Porsche Active Ride suspension. Both packages are openly available for mass-produced Panamera models, so they are not considered tuning.
