Hyundai i30 N gets its second update

The sporty Hyundai i30 N has been updated shortly after its “civilian” counterpart, keeping the output unchanged but getting minor exterior and cabin revisions. It will go on sale in a few days, the company says.

Starting with the exterior, there is a new front bumper with reshaped air intakes and red/matte grey accents. New 19-inch wheels finished in the same shade of grey fill out the arches. The rear end looks the same.

Inside, the bucket seats wrapped in leather and Alcantara have been slightly updated. The two 10.3-inch displays on the dash have stayed the same, though. A gloss trim was added to the gear lever, and a new red button marked “NGS” appeared on the steering wheel. Pushing it activates N Grin Shift – a temporary turbo boost.

The ADAS features have stayed the same overall, but Hyundai says it now delivers the base trim versions with more safety features included as standard in most countries.

For the powertrain, the refreshed i30 N still relies on its 2.0-liter turbo four-pot introduced during the first facelift four years ago (see video). Depending on the modification, it can output 250 or 280 PS (247 or 276 hp; 184 or 206 kW, respectively). Customers can choose between six-speed manual and eight-speed preselector DCT for the transmission.
