Manufacturer proclaims Lucid Air the most power-efficient EV in the USA

Automaker Lucid Motors has revealed the next model year lineup of its Air EV. While staying at the same price point, the cars had been optimized to the point that made them America’s most energy-efficient vehicles on the road, the company claims.

Contrary to the universal trend, Lucid shrank the battery of the entry-level Air Pure spec from 88 to 84 kilowatt-hours. This has barely affected its range while letting the company install a heat pump to assist with wintertime driving – this option had previously been reserved for the top trims.

The new EPA rating for the sedan is 420 miles, or 676 kilometers, per charge. This means that the car can cover up to 5 miles (8 kilometers) per 1 kilowatt-hour of power spent. In this sense, it outperforms even such extremely optimized EVs as the Mercedes-Benz EQS and the Tesla Model S.

The range for the Air Touring now amounts to 653 km (405 miles), and the Air Grand Touring can do 824 km (512 miles) on its bigger pack.

Aside from the powertrain optimizations, the entire lineup received an upgraded infotainment system with twice the memory size and three times the processing power. Perhaps the nicest part is that the pricing has stayed at the same point – you can grab a Lucid Air starting from $69,900 before fees.
