Enthusiasts to revive a famous Ford Sierra RS500 from the ‘80s

UK-based Auto Vision Club has announced a rather ambitious project dedicated to the resurrection of the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500. One out of 500 such cars imported from the USA back in the 1980s is about to get restored in an all-carbon body with an upgraded engine – as long as the Club gets enough funding, that is.

The body design seen here is called “Carbon Piranha” and will be handled by Yasid Design. The main goal is to keep the weight of the car under 1,000 kilograms (roughly 2,200 pounds).

Power for the restomod will come from the original 2.0-liter turbo four-pot that the modern-day team of Cosworth will rebuild to a higher spec. We don’t know how much exactly it will output, but it should be way more than the original 224 PS (221 hp / 165 kW).

The donor vehicle for the project has the chassis number 148, hence its name – Vision 148. Once it is complete, the Vision 148 will be available to buy to all members of the club. The minimal membership fee currently amounts to £99, and it remains to be seen how expensive the restomod turns out to be.
