Ford no longer delivers cars with SecuriCode locks preinstalled by default, ending a tradition that had lasted almost four decades.
The SecuriCode option appeared on the list in the early 1980s and was well-received by the customers. By using a button pad on the driver’s door – later replaced with a touch panel – drivers could unlock the car without keys. According to Ford, this option has become less of a necessity in our era of smartphone apps and keyless entry systems, so the time has come to discontinue it.
The company has been doing just that lately. The F-150 was the last vehicle to still ship with the SecuriCode panel installed by default was, but now that it was updated for 2025, it no longer has it.
You can still ask your dealership for the option, but it is going to cost you $455 now. Ford’s subsidiary, Lincoln, continues offering this option on the usual terms.
