McLaren to unveil F1, P1 successor on October 6

The British sport car maker has a major premiere planned for the next Sunday, seemingly its next hypercar.

The announcement doesn’t provide any details, but it mentions a car with the number “1” in its name. It sounds like an obvious nod to the automaker’s dynasty of hypercars with that number in the name, specifically the F1 and the P1.

The McLaren P1 (seen in the gallery here) is a hybrid coupe with 916 PS (903 hp / 674 kW) of combined output. Its niche in the automaker’s lineup has stayed empty since it went out of production in 2015.
