Stellantis workers prepare for a strike in Italy

Trade unions in Italy have agreed on a series of strikes and protests against Stellantis, with the first general strike scheduled to take place on October 18, 2024.

The workers in the country are disgruntled with the low car production volumes that keep faltering. The U.S. automotive corporation had promised them a production rate of a million vehicles per year, but has failed to reach that number. Furthermore, the volumes have actually dropped as of late, threatening the factory personnel with wage cuts and layoffs.

According to the calculations performed by the FIM-CISL Trade Union, Stellantis is on track to producing a paltry 500,000 vehicles on the Apennine Peninsula in 2024. It may sound like a lot, but it is only a half of the planned quantity and roughly 25% less than the year before.
