Jetour Shanhai L7 goes on sale

The eco-friendly Jetour Shanhai lineup welcomes its latest member – a mid-size hybrid crossover named the L7. It is slated to go on sale in China soon in five- and seven-seat variants and four trim levels, priced from 129,800 to 159,800 CNY.

The car is sized 4,749 x 1,900 x 1,720 millimeters large (L/W/H) with 2,745 mm between the axles. It looks unique with a solid panel in place of the radiator grille and stacked headlights. A light bar running just below the hood makes it look a bit like its high-end cousin, the Shanhai L9.

The interior houses two 12.3-inch displays, a three-spoke steering wheel, two rotary knobs on the console and a pair of cupholders. Available features include a voice assistant, remote control via smartphone app, Sony audio, and a number of driving aids summing up to a Level 2 self-driving system. One of the more interesting options comes in the form of a five-liter thermobox that can maintain temperatures from -6 to +50 degrees Celsius (21…122 ºF) and can be sterilized with UV rays.

As for the powertrain, it invariably includes a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a single electric motor. The engine supplies 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque, while the motor adds 271 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 395 Nm (291 lb-ft) of its own. A two-speed DHT transmission carries the torque to the wheels.

With a full 19.43-kWh battery, the new Jetour Shanhai L7 offers up to 120 km (75 miles) of purely electric range. Filling up the tank extends the range to 1,300 km (808 miles). Charging the battery from 30 to 80 percent takes 18 minutes.
