Lotus considers keeping Emira around for longer

The British sports car maker ditched its “Full Electrification by 2028” strategy in November and admitted that high-end hybrids might be the way to go instead. It has now supplied some details.

According to Dan Balmer, the leader of the European branch of the company, Lotus is currently considering keeping its gas-powered Emira model in production for another couple of years. With its electric replacement postponed indefinitely, it may very well use some extra sales.

He didn’t rule out turning the Emira into a hybrid in the future, saying that it may end up necessary to conform with the environmental standards.
