Burn your eyes on a Pagani Zonda replica adorned with 100,000 coins

A particularly exotic Pagani Zonda art car has attended this year’s Miami Art Week. An avid Pagani collector ordered this replica with a livery improvised from over one hundred thousand small coins, CarBuzz reports.

The thing is known as the Carpincho, which is Spanish for “capybara”. In keeping with the theme, its livery is made up from two-peso coins that typically have a capybara minted on the reverse side. Joaquin Arbiza, the artist from Uruguay who carried out the project, had spent three years working on it.

When creating the Carpincho, Arbiza realized that he needed to weld the coins together to keep them attached. He ended up making over 500,000 individual weld points, gradually overlaying the “chainmail” of coins on top of a custom wood/clay/foam base. It was the collector’s wish to put the image of Lionel Messi, the legendary Argentine footballer, on the hood.

And if you are wondering how much a Pagani dress like this costs, you’d be surprised to learn that it is worth mere $4,500 or so in U.S. dollars.
