Check out a £2M+ hypercar from McLaren F1 designer

Engineer Gordon Murray, largely known for penning the iconic McLaren F1, has announced a new hardcore supercar coming to us later this year. It will be based on the same chassis as the T.33 model from two years ago (see video), but an all-new model should be coming in 2028.

The new model will be known as the GMA T.33 S. According to Murray, despite the minor name change, it will be a completely different vehicle – much more track-focused, but still just barely street-legal. All technical modifications it will receive will be centered around this philosophy.

The list starts with a new aerodynamic package prioritizing downforce and handling. The chassis gets its share of tweaks as well, while the carbon-aluminum monocoque cabin and the 3.9-liter naturally aspirated V12 stay unchanged. This isn’t a bad thing, since the mill can rev up to 11,000 RPM and even a bit beyond that. It can also supply a steady 617 PS (609 hp / 454 kW). Lighter construction or some ECU tweaking may improve lap times, but Murray says all details will have to wait. What we do know is that the asking price will land in the £2,000,000+ area.

GMA plans to put together no more than 100 T.33 units combined. This includes the coupe and the roadster already in production. The whole batch was sold out long ago, but the assembly has yet to begin. Murray says he is still hopeful that he can deliver all 100 units by 2028, when he plans to launch another supercar on a completely new platform and technology. That one is still very much a dark horse, but the engineer describes it using such epithets as “best in class” and “the most driver-focused in class.”
