VW turns to Rivian for EV technology

Volkswagen intends to expand the use of technology developed by U.S. electric vehicle startup Rivian as it is designing the next generation of its own EVs.

After investing $5.8 billion into the company, the German automaker admitted that it became a crucial part of its own product strategy moving forward. For example, the ninth generation of the Golf hatchback will make extensive use of Rivian powertrain technology.

Not only that, but Porsche is reportedly working on a large seven-seater SUV that will also tap into the Rivian know-how on EV design.
