Great Wall launches bike production in China

In addition to its thriving automobile business, Great Wall Motor Company is now making motorbikes. The first model, announced this spring as the Souo S2000, has entered production for the domestic market of China.

The bike is 2,660 mm long, 950 mm wide, and weighs 461 kilograms. That’s 103.9 x 37.1 inches and 1,016 lbs in Imperial units, accordingly. A 2.0-liter flat-eight engine drives the wheels with 154 PS (152 hp / 113 kW) through an eight-speed preselector DCT. Brembo brakes and adaptive shocks help with stability and handling.

The feature list mentions an impressive top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph), an infotainment system on board, and seat heating.

Prices start at 219,000 CNY for the base trim, 239,000 CNY for the GL version with added luggage boxes, and 289,000 for the Founder Edition coming to the market ahead of the rest. To put things into perspective, the similarly sized Honda Gold Wing will set you back at least 350,000 CNY.
