Tuner proves a V10 fits inside a Lincoln Continental

For the past three years, the duo from the Build It Yourself channel on YouTube have been building a custom ten-cylinder engine from scavenged Ford parts. Once it was ready, an idea spontaneously came to install it into a salvaged Lincoln Continental.

The executive saloon normally makes do with a transversely installed V6. Depending on its volume and the presence of a turbocharger, it can deliver between 300 and 400 horsepower. We don’t know yet how much power and torque the new V10 generates, but the one thing we do know is that it doesn’t fit into the stock engine bay – not by far.

But who ever stops at minor hindrances like that, right? The tuners replaced the front and rear subframes of their Lincoln with ones they borrowed from the latest Ford Mustang and took care to move the mounting points, too. They also fabricated a host of parts for the project, including the whole cylinder head assembly, and made their custom V10 run smoothly with the Mustang’s stock six-speed manual transmission.
