Kia calls EV tax credit cancellation “dumb”

Steve Center, COO of Kia America, has criticized the decision of the U.S. government to discontinue the $7,500 tax subsidy on new EVs.

He dismissed Donald Trump’s statements made during the election as a “poor perspective” on things that could harm the whole automotive industry. Like most other automakers, Kia has been investing big in electric transports lately. It has also put a considerable amount into localizing its EV production in the United States to conform with the federal legislation.

According to Center, cancelling the tax credit would be akin to “pulling the rug out from under the whole industry.”
