Unofficial: Porsche struggles with 718 EV lineup
Porsche may reign supreme in its own sports car niche, but going electric with its 718 model range is proving to be more challenging than expected.
According to reports coming from Germany, the engineers haven’t been able to make fully electric 718 models as agile and drivable as their petrol counterparts thus far.
We are told that Porsche encountered another hurdle while designing a new seven-seat electric SUV known under the factory designation “K1”. It wasn’t coming out right at all, so the company had to redesign a large part of it from scratch to accommodate a petrol engine along with a motor. If it debuts anytime soon, it will be introduced as a plug-in hybrid and not as a pure EV, the sources say.
