The Tesla Cybercab is designed from the ground up as a robotic taxi, so it doesn’t have a traditional steering wheel or pedals. Still, according to Autoevolution, the company has come up with a special device to steer it in emergencies.
The reports come from some employees of the Petersen Automotive Museum, where the Cybercab is currently on display and will stay until January 2. When the car arrived, it seemed to park itself on the exhibition space, but there was a person inside who seemed to steer it using a gamepad-like device.
The museum workers say the controller was plugged into the car’s electronics with a cable, but a wireless connection and remote control would also be possible.
