Jetour Zongheng G700 full specs revealed ahead of Q3 launch

A while ago, Jetour announced a whole series of premium off-roaders designed to compete in the same market niche as the Tank 700. The first entry of this lineup, called the Zongheng G700, has now been registered in China’s patent office.

It’s already official that the sales will start in the third quarter of the year, but let’s take a look at the SUV in the meantime. It seems heavily inspired by the Jetour T5 Concept from the last year, just like the pre-production example revealed at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show (see video). That one was loaded with numerous aftermarket upgrades, though, so don’t go looking for that appearance in the base trim.

The Zongheng G700 features a body-on-frame design with three differential locks and adjustable air suspension. It is sized 5,198 x 2,050 x 1,956 mm large with 2,870 mm between the axles and up to 320 mm (12.5 inches) of ground clearance. The approach angle amounts to 30 degrees and the departure angle to 25 degrees, the patent documents claim. There are four curb weights listed depending on the trim options, but the average is close to 3.1 metric tons, or 6,835 lbs. Jetour says the SUV can tow attachments weighing up to 2.5 metric tons (5,511 lbs).

Interestingly, the off-roader is being advertised as “amphibious”. It can wade water for up 40 minutes at a time without sprouting a leak, moving at 8 km/h (5 mph) and fighting oncoming water currents of up to 5 m/s (11.2 mph).

As a part of Chery Group, the company enjoys access to its hybrid powertrains, and the Jetour Zongheng G700 uses its Kunpeng CDM-O model, where the “O” stands for “off-road”. It comprises a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine rated at 211 PS (208 hp / 155 kW) and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft) of torque, as well as two electric motors. One of those is installed on the rear axle, while the other one sits inside the car’s two-range transmission.

The combined output comes to 762 PS (752 hp / 560 kW) and 795 Nm (586 lb-ft) of torque. Despite its huge weight, the off-roader sprints from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds – or so the manufacturer claims, at least. A maxed lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack allows it to go on for 1,400 km (870 miles) in hybrid mode until a refill is required. Recharging the battery from 20 to 80 percent full takes only 10 minutes.
