The Special Vehicle Operations division of Jaguar Land Rover has acquired Bowler, a dedicated rally raid SUV manufacturer. The company will continue to produce specialty SUVs in small batches, and it will also design extreme editions of JLR’s cars.
According to JLR, Bowler possesses tremendous experience in designing reinforcements and heavy-duty components for off-road vehicles. The company also has proprietary production equipment and tech, and knows a thing or two about off-road tuning.
Media suppose that Bowler’s first task in its new status could be designing a no-nonsense all-terrain SUV based on the latest Land Rover Defender.
The cooperation history between Jaguar Land Rover and Bowler dates as far back as 2012, and the two companies unveiled the Bowler Defender rally car in 2014 (see the gallery and the video).
