2025 Polaris Slingshot debuts with numerous upgrades, $3k price bump

Polaris has updated its Slingshot tricycle in time for the model’s 10th anniversary. It now costs from $25,000 to $35,000 in the United States – $3,000 more than before the facelift.

Starting with the exterior, the front fascia now looks more aggressive thanks to new bumpers, larger air intakes and different fenders. The rest of the car looks different depending on the trim level – for example, the range-topping R trim boasts a front splitter and an air scoop on the hood.

The ground clearance at the front axle has gained 25 mm (1 inch). Polaris also mentions suspension tweaks for “improved handling and stability”, but doesn’t go into detail. Inside, bigger Rockford Fosgate speakers sound louder thanks to larger drivers and should silence the road better than their predecessors. This is actually very relevant, since the Slingshot doesn’t have a fixed roof or doors – just a basic removable top available as an option.

The old 2.4-liter GM engine hasn’t been used in this model for a while now, and it isn’t coming back. Instead, the company fits the cars with its own Prostar 2.0 block. It delivers 183 PS (180 hp / 135 kW) and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) of torque in its most basic implementation, a bump of 2 horsepower and 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) over the pre-facelift version. If you want to get the most out of it, choose the top version and you will be getting 207 PS (204 hp / 155 kW) along with 203 Nm (150 lb-ft).

Polaris points out that the torque curve now has a longer, flatter top. As usual, you can choose between a five-speed manual transmission and a sequential box called AutoDrive, produced by Magneti Marelli.
