Rare 1997 Ruf CTR2 set to sell for $2.5M

Legendary German tuning company Ruf has many iconic conversions in its portfolio, but few are as instantly recognizable as the Porsche 911 (993)-based CTR2. Rumor has it only 18 were made, each one still faster than today’s 911 Turbo. Perhaps that’s why Gooding & Company expects to sell this example for eye-watering $2–2.5 million USD.

The Ruf CTR2 (see video) went into production in 1995 and bowed out just three years later. It was largely inspired by the first-generation CTR, the Yellowbird. The owner of this particular example didn’t care for yellow, however, and instead asked the company for a unique Adriatic Blue coat.

Every car also received custom body panels and aero parts, including a somewhat odd-looking wing with an air “pocket” in it. You’d think a wing like that would slow you down, but the CTR2 is anything but slow. It commands 527 PS (520 hp / 388 kW) and can sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 3.6 seconds. It also completes a quarter-mile run in 11.8 seconds and doesn’t reach its peak acceleration until 340 km/h (205 mph). For comparison, the latest 911 Turbo is 10 km/h (7 mph) slower than that.

According to the listing, the coupe is in outstanding condition and fully maintained with 60,194 km (37,402 miles) under its belt.
