Mitsubishi is bringing the Grandis nameplate back in Europe, but there’s a catch.
The original Grandis was a minivan developed by the Japanese company in the house. It went out of production 14 years ago and is still remembered fondly by some of the owners.
In contrast, the new Grandis will be a crossover SUV for Europe, one of the two cars that Mitsubishi promised to release in the EU last fall. It will arrive packing two powertrains – mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid.
The automaker stays tight-lipped about the details, but the first teasers reveal what is essentially a Renault Symbioz with a new badge. We are also told that the production will take place at a Renault factory in Spain, so it checks out.
More details will be revealed closer to the premiere in July. The first deliveries are scheduled for late 2025.
