Zagato-tuned Ferrari 599 GTZ Nibbio Spyder could fetch $1M

RM Sotherby’s will be holding an auction in two weeks dedicated, among other things, to this Ferrari 599 GTZ Spyder retrofitted with a racing-grade gearbox and tuned by Zagato.

The car rolled off the lines in 2009, but has not been modified until 2020. Its nickname “Nibbio” apparently means “fast, good-looking, agile and with a distinct rear”, which is kind of a running joke for the Italian automaker.

Then again, there is plenty here to look at aside from just the rear. Our personal highlights include an unusual front grille styled not unlike those of recent Aston Martin cars, signature oval air intakes, and new headlights. Bodywork is different down the sides, and the clear taillights in the back light up fiery red when turned on.

The interior flaunts black leather with light stitching, complimenting the silver body nicely. Deviations from stock are few, but there is a handy soft top for those few rainy days.

Powering the one-off ride is a naturally aspirated V12 pumping out 620 PS (611 hp / 456 kW) and 608 Nm (448 lb-ft) of torque. The standard sprint succeeds in 3.7 seconds, and the top speed borders on 330 km/h (205 mph). The pride of the whole project comes in the guise of an F1 Superfast semi-auto transmission co-designed with Michael Schumacher and capable of switching gears in one-tenth of a second.

The unique Nibbio Spyder is expected to go for $1,000,000 or more.
