Mazda reveals EZ-60 SUV for China

Mazda has patented an SUV called the EZ-60 in China. According to AutoHome.cn, it’s based on the Arata Concept and rides on a Changan platform. The full reveal will take place at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 23, but in the meantime, let’s take a look at the official images.

The car cuts a dynamic profile with its wide c-pillars, sculptured hood and ostensibly bulky bumpers at both ends. A LED stripe connects the upper parts of stacked headlight at the front, while the taillights are basically all stripes. Video cameras reside where side mirrors are supposed to be, and while that may restrict the model to the Chinese domestic market, rumors are coming in that Mazda envisions an international release.

There are still no interior pics. For the powertrain, the EZ-60 may get the same options as the EZ-6 liftback in China – all-electric and range-extender hybrid. The former option has 258 PS (254 hp / 190 kW) and up to 600 km (372 miles) of range. The latter combines a 218-PS (215-hp / 160-kW) motor with a 95-PS (94-hp / 70-kW) gas engine acting as a power generator. When full, the hybrid can cover up to 1,300 km (808 miles) before needing a refill.
