Ferrari-inspired, road-weary Camaro snatches $10k at an auction

Tuned sports cars with plenty of mileage rarely attract serious bets, but this Chevrolet Camaro had it lucky: whoever bought it on eBay paid $10,000 USD.

The Camaro rolled off the assembly line in 1985 and has around 14,000 km (8,773 miles) on the odo, but the seller honestly warned that its real mileage exceeded 160,000 (100,000 miles). Exterior novelty comes in the shape of headlights and taillights, radiator grille with its miniature Ferrari badge, custom bumpers, and exhaust tips. The doors lean towards the Testarossa in terms of styling, but lack the aerodynamic finesse of the latter.

Inside, Ferrari inspiration extends as far as the door cards, dashboard, cockpit layout, and dual-spoke steering wheel with a Prancing Horse logo on it.

Power is sourced from a 5.7-liter V8 mated to an automatic transmission and hydraulic torque converter.

If you still haven’t figured out which specific Ferrari model this Chevy tried to imitate – don’t be hard on yourself. The author of the tuning doesn’t know, either. Apparently, he just wanted something Ferrari-esque in his garage.
