There are only two such C3 ZR2 Corvettes in the world

Chevrolet only pieced together a dozen of C3 Corvettes in the top ZR2 spec back in 1971, and only two out of those were removable hardtops. The least used out of the two cars is now on sale, and is estimated between $1 and $1.2 million USD.

The ZR2 was only ever produced for one year, not in the least because of the forbidding cost. Cars from this lineup are considered the rarest LS6 ‘Vettes in the world. The roadster version – which the manufacturer itself calls ‘convertible’ – is even rarer.

The ultimate appeal of the ZR2 lineup was its 7.4-liter Big Block V8 churning out 425 PS (419 hp / 313 kW). It worked with a four-speed manual transmission optimized for track use and came equipped with upgraded suspension, cooling and brakes. Some options, like air conditioner, power steering and radio, were not available for the ZR2.

This example has only around 14,000 km (8,700 miles) of use on it. It also boasts a variety of show awards and special nominations. Its current owner, a famous collector, believes the car to be the most authentic ZR2 in the world. Supporting the latter claim is the fact that the convertible has never been restored before.

Whoever acquires the car will be getting two roof options along with it – a folding soft top and a removable hardtop.
