EPA confirms improved fuel economy in 2022 VW Jetta

Volkswagen revealed the facelifted Jetta for North America in August, adding a new 1.5-liter engine option with 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW) and 250 Nm (183 lb-ft) of torque. EPA has now measured its efficiency.

According to the study, the entry-level, six-speed manual Jetta now gets 29 miles per gallon (8.1 liters per 100 km) in the city. Highway driving is much better at 43 MPS (4.8 l / 100 km), and the combined average is about 34 MPG (6.9 l / 100 km).

Opting for an S version with an eight-speed automatic transmission yields 31 MPG (7.6 l / 100 km), 41 MPG (5.7 l / 100 km), and 35 MPG (6.7 l / 100 km), respectively.

The new Jetta GLI holds on to its old 2.0-liter turbo engine rated at 228 PS (225 hp / 160 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. However, it also becomes slightly more efficient with both transmission types. Manual gives you 26 MPG (9 l / 100 km), 37 MPG (6.3 l / 100 km), and 30 MPG (7.8 l / 100 km) in urban, highway and combined cycles, respectively. DCT has nearly the same efficiency.
