U.S. Govt postpones Canada and Mexico tariffs once again

President Donald Trump has once again postponed the 25% extra import fee on all vehicles imported from Canada and Mexico after discussing this controversial measure with automakers.

The tariff hike was originally announced a month ago, but postponed immediately after the announcement. It was scheduled to enter force this week, but Trump decided to wait another month.

A message from the White House says Trump held a meeting with representatives of the leading dealership networks and the Big Three (meaning Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis). The common sentiment was that the extra tariffs would do more harm than good. In the end, they managed to convince the administration that waiting for another month was the best course.
