Changan Qiyuan C798 leaks via patent details

The mid-size SUV known as the Changan Qiyuan C798 has been registered in China’s patent database, letting us know it has an optional LiDAR and runs on hybrid power.

According to Autohome.cn quoting the patent application, the model is 4,837 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,690 mm tall with 2,905 mm between the axles. It is a range-extender in its current version, recharged by a 1.5-liter petrol engine rated at 98 PS (97 hp / 72 kW). Still, Changan specifically established the Qiyuan sub-brand to produce BEV/hybrid pairs under it, so we believe that the C798 will get an all-electric variant somewhere down the line.

The premiere remains penciled in for 2025 (no specific date). At this time, we only have these exterior images to look at. The headlights are stacked and complemented by a connecting LED stripe. Pull-out door handles, linked taillights and a LiDAR mounted on the roof right above the windshield make it feel modern. We suppose that the LiDAR is optional, because it is missing from some images.
