Wuling Mini EV 5-Door goes on sale

China’s most popular electric vehicle right now – the Wuling Mini – is now obtainable in a five-door body version. The prices are pending, but here are the photos and the specs.

Both the three-door and the five-door Mini EV grew much larger in their second generation. Wuling has somehow managed to make the two identical in size – both are 3,256 mm (127.2 inches) long, 1,510 mm (59 in) wide and 1,578 mm (61.6 in) tall with 2,190 mm (85.6 in) between the axles. Wheels are now sized 13 inches across – up from 12” in the first generation. The exterior looks much smoother and less boxy than Gen.1, but stays recognizable.

There is only one interior trim on the list, composed of cream and tan fabric and leatherette. The biggest improvement is more legroom, and some will also appreciate having an infotainment display instead of a phone holder.

Powered by a single e-motor with 41 PS (40 hp / 30 kW), the car cannot go any faster than 100 km/h (62 mph). A 16.2-kWh battery pack gives it 205 km (127 miles) of range per charge. The old 27-PS (27-hp / 20-kW) motor isn’t mentioned anywhere, so it looks like it may have been dropped from the lineup.

The original Wuling Mini EV reached the market in China in 2020. The company has since sold more than 1,400,000 units, setting an absolute record. Prices for the Gen.1 start from 32,800 Yuan.
