Tata revives Sierra SUV for India

Tata Motors has brought as many as 32 passenger and commercial cars to the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, one of which was a revival of the affordable crossover known as the Sierra.

The Sierra was made in 1991–2003. It was a three-door utility vehicle featuring an unusual panoramic roof design with more glass at the rear end than at the front. Its successor replicates the same design, but with five doors.

You may remember that Tata demonstrated a concept called Sierra.ev back in 2023. The production car is inspired by it, but has no electric powertrain options – just a petrol and a diesel engine. The former delivers 170 PS (168 hp / 125 kW), while the latter makes 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque with the same power output. Six-speed manual transmission is standard for both, but you can get a seven-speed DCT for the gas car and a six-speed AT for the diesel.

Feature-wise, Tata mentioned a trio of 12.3-inch displays, ventilated front seats, six airbags, surround view cameras and numerous driving assist features.
