Sharp joins in on EV craze with a minivan project

Sharp, a Japanese brand of household appliances, apparently wants its slice of the electric car market as well.

The first concept is called the LDK+ and is around 5 meters (16.4 feet) long. The company argues that it can be converted into a home on wheels or a small mobile cinema. As for the chassis and the powertrain, they are sourced from Foxconn, the Taiwanese semiconductor company that has held the rights to the Sharp brand since 2016. Foxconn’s original plan was to manufacture electric vehicles under its own sub-brand, Foxtron, but it never came to life.

The LDK+ will be featured at the Sharp Tech Day event on September 17, but the company says it will be “years” until the production can begin.
