Custom off-roader built from an 82-year-old army truck could fetch $275k

This Dodge WC26 Wagon was originally made in 1941 as a light army vehicle, but was later converted into a rat-rod-style overlanding machine with plenty of creature comforts. It is going on sale in the USA at the end of this month estimated between $250,000 and $275,000.

Renowned for its exceptional durability and ease of maintenance, the chassis was allowed to stay stock. It still received a full frame-off restoration along with the frame itself and the body. The team responsible for the job cleaned every nook and cranny and finished the result in a special patinated shade accentuated by running paint streaks. The lighting all around was replaced and a new sunroof was installed.

The suspension received a lift kit so that the car could accommodate 22-inch wheels shod in humongous 42-inch Milestar Patagonia tires inside the arches. The antiquated engine also went away, making room for a 5.9-liter Cummins diesel complete with a new intercooler and a DynoMax exhaust system. An automatic transmission was entrusted with delivering the torque to all four wheels. The fuel tank is also new, custom-made and 144 liters (38 U.S. gallons) large.

A peek inside the cabin reveals new seats, a digital dashboard and an MB Quart audio system based on multiple amps. For a particularly cozy ride, the owner ordered additional noise proofing for the cabin.
