Aston Martin Vanquish Volante bows in the UK

Aston Martin’s newest supercar is set to reach showrooms in Q3 this year.

The Vanquish Volante commands a twin-turbocharged V12 with 5.2 liters of displacement and 835 PS (824 hp / 614 kW) at the crank. Drivers can push a button labeled Boost Reserve to briefly ramp up the boost pressure and reach the peak power output quicker when needed. A rear-mounted ZF 8-speed AT carries the torque to the rear wheels.

Accelerating 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) succeeds in 3.4 seconds. The top speed lies at 344 km/h (213 mph). The company claims the new Volante is the world’s fastest and most powerful front-engined convertible in history.

A folding top mechanism makes the car 106 kilograms (234 pounds) heavier than its coupe counterpart. That’s also why it sprints 0.2 seconds slower than the coupe while having the same top speed. The roof takes 14 seconds to lower and 16 to raise as long as you drive under 50 km/h (31 mph).

Like the Vanquish coupe, the Volante has an advanced electronic diff lock at the rear axle capable of locking up completely in just 135 milliseconds. Unlike all other Aston Martin models around, the newcomer makes use of state-of-the-art Bilstein DTX adaptive shocks. The company says they drastically change the way the car handles depending on your chosen preset, and are fine-tuned with the convertible’s per-axle weight distribution in mind.
