Marvel at this 2,500-HP, road-legal Dodge Challenger

Tuners from Rides by Kam (Australia) had spent over 10,000 hours creating this deceptively tame-looking 1970 Dodge Challenger restomod. Make no mistake, it packs hypercar muscle under that hood.

The project started with moving the body onto an all-new chassis by Roadster Shop. The whole exterior was redone in a clean and laconic way, all unnecessary trim bits removed and the panels finished in matte grey. The interior likewise underwent a complete overhaul with brown leather upholstery and Holden Commodore seats.

As nice as all of the above sounds, it’s the engine that’s the true highlight of the whole build. Stanton Racing Engines upgraded the 9.37-liter V8 with a high-end supercharger, sport injection, a new crank, and other superior internals. A six-speed manual transmission was tasked with delivering the torque to the rear end via a differential. In its peak form with the best gas available, the engine can produce up to 2,500 PS (2,466 hp / 1,839 kW). It was detuned to work off regular ON91 pump gas and was still able to deliver an impressive 1,200 PS (1,184 hp / 883 kW).

The car went up on sale last weekend, estimated at $350,000. We were unable to find any info on whether Mecum managed to sell it or not.
